Google Classroom and Turnitin
Reminder to students: Some information for class may be housed in our Google Classroom -- at classroom.google.com.
Your assignments -- and revision feedback -- can also be found at turnitin.com.
Each quarter we will focus on certain genres of writing, including personal essay, poetry, short story, play, screenplay and more. You will begin writing in response to exercises and will be encouraged to develop and to revise pieces across an extended period of time.
Each quarter you will be graded based on your classwork (20%), submission of assignments (20%) and your portfolio (60%). We aim to cultivate and to maintain a healthy classroom community, a community in which all writers feel comfortable sharing feedback and work with one another -- and where all writers feel inspired and supported in their writing.
Your portfolio will include revised versions of work from that quarter, along with a reflective letter of introduction. Initial submissions are evaluated based on your effort to develop pieces in response to criteria. Your portfolio is evaluated also on the extent to which you develop pieces beyond initial drafts, including in response to teacher revision comments.
In the folders at the bottom of this page, you can find information about specific units.
